Motorsport-Magazin.com - Iceland Phillip was the kick-off weekend of WSBK entirely in the hands of Carlos Checa. The Spaniards decided not only the training for themselves, but also the 22-round Chase on the Australian line. With clear distance, the Ducati rider came over the finish line ahead of Max Biaggi and Marco Melandri. The two Italians dueled to almost the entire race. The starting line for the second race of the season at Phillip Iceland won Leon Haslam. Max Biaggi put out a bad start and slipped off ranked seven.
